Re-Tired...again

I had a less than nice surprise Friday morning when Edward came in with a delivery and told me the back right tire on the van was flat...too flat to drive. Well that was just great news! First, I had to find somebody to put some air in it or change to the spare. Asked the Village first if they had a pump and of course they didn't. They offered to change to the spare but I hated to have them go to all that trouble. I called Firestone, a couple blocks up Reynolda, but they couldn't send any one out to fix it ...not allowed. So, called the Chevron station across the street from them and a nice little man came out with a compressor and puffed up the tire. He told me not to go far as the tire was so worn the steel was showing...how did it pass inspection in January? Next, called back to Firestone and got a quote on 2 tires ....same price as last year $200 but the alignment added $70 and then a headlight and back windshield wiper...note to self - do them yourself next time...brought the bill to $350!!! OUCH But, the car drives great, as is should after all that.
The rest of the week went fairly well. I have two orders working for rehearsal dinner invitations...will post one when finished as it is very pretty. Also, met with Sarah and I am fine tuning her modern, type stack design. Saturday a past customer came in with her pregnant daughter and ordered invitations for two baby showers. Christine's boyfriend picked up the book Friday and all of her grandfather's keepsakes. Hope she is happy as I have not heard from her....she should be, it came out so good. One year on that project but it was such an honor. One computer issue last week that is driving me a bit nuts. The streaming videos buffer so slow it's not worth watching anything. Finally decided it was something to do with Clear. I called and they are sending a new modem. Sure hope it cures the problem.
Spent the day today dusting and sweeping and doing laundry. Zoe should have gotten a bath but she lucked out til next week.

Is it Monday or Tuesday?

It's always so confusing the week of a holiday on Monday. I will be a day off until we come around to next Monday. Other than being a bit off today was a good one. I accomplished all the important stuff on the to-do list; print and cut 80 birthday invites for a 75 year old "youngster"...doing a lot of senior type birthdays this year, sent a quote off on some survey reply cards, got two orders for rehearsal dinner invitations, and consulted with a bride on her custom design invitations. Yes, a good day.
Zoe was calm in the car today but barky and whiney when customers were in. Cindy gave me a good idea to give her a chew stick when we have a customer, to keep her quiet and occupied, and take it away when they leave...think I'll try it.
Saw an idea for using canned biscuits for dim sum and I made them for dinner...very easy, and I may do it again sometime. So happy I found my bamboo steamer!

It's been too long...

Well, it's been a year since I added to this blog. Today, while looking for pictures of Rosie for a birthday gift, I found a journal I wrote in 1986. It opened to an entry made on Memorial Day...wow, that told me I should start posting here again. It was so great to read about what I was doing on 24 years ago and it brough it all back and it was like I was 36 again traveling around on private jets, staying in great hotels and having dinner and drinks after a hard day with some fun people. maybe 24 years from now I'll be reading this.

The store is closed for the 3 day holiday, weekend...what a treat, three days out of there. Friday the book I have been working on, on and off for a year arrived from the book printer. It is just perfect...so happy it looks good. Tuesday I will let Christine know her grandmother's 90th birthday gift is here
While looking though Rosie's recipes today, for inclusion in her birthday gift, Easy Chocolate Cake looked good and easy, so I baked one and Cindy's review gave it the "just like Mom's" award!!!
